De La Hoya-Mayweather rematch

The boxing match that took place between Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya on may 3^rd was quite interesting and it just beat the financial record in collection previously held by the match between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson. In the first match that took place Hoya was defeated by Mayweather. They are now ready to settle up the issue with a rematch to be held between the two in the month of September, the tentative dates being 13^th or 20^th. The first fight broke the box office records with a pay per view gross collection $134.4 million and $18.4 million in Live Gate. Mr. Schaefer the CEO of the Golden boy Promotions released the news regarding the rematch to ESPN. De La Hoya/Mayweather tickets for the rematch are expected to sell like hot cakes.

The Mayweather-De La Hoya II match is about to be held at Home-depot center with a capacity of 27000 seats. Other venues like MGM grand in Las Vegas and Dodger stadium are also interested to host the match.  Hoya’s plan to fight in the month of May was ruined by Mayweather after he defeated Ricky Hatton. After losing to Mayweather in the first match he has been idle without a match for nearly 16 months. Mayweathers fights with Hoya and Hatton were the biggest of the year. The first fight was shown in HBO Pay-per-View charging $55 to view the match. The series between the great two opponents was named as De La Hoya-Mayweather 24/7. An interesting fact was that Mayweather Sr. was willing to coach or train Hoya who was going to face his son in a match in September 2008. The demand of mayweather of $2 million was declined by Hoya and now Mr. Freddie Roach is supporting to coach Hoya.
